Jesse Tyler Ferguson has a Modern Family of his own. The actor starred as a lovable gay dad and brother, Mitchell Pritchett, in Modern Family. His character had a strong relationship with Cameron Tucker, portrayed by Eric Allen Stonestreet.
Just like his character, Ferguson is married to his husband, Justin Mikita, who he first met at a gym.
Mikita was in a relationship at the time; hence, they didn’t start dating immediately. In fact, they reconnected only 10 months later. Mikita had already broken up with his boyfriend by that time, and they hit it off.
They announced their engagement in 2012 and tied the knot in Manhattan on July 20, 2013, in a wedding officiated by the award-winning playwright Tony Kushner.

Ferguson may be more famous than his husband thanks to his acting career, but the latter is also involved in show business.
Mikita is a producer with credits including Welcome to Chechnya (2020) and Lips Together, Teeth Apart (2020). The producer often collaborates with his husband, and their last project was a documentary named Broadway Rising, which explored the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on the Broadway industry.
He also has a background in law and activism. According to Bustle, the producer has worked with the American Foundation for Equal Rights to overturn Prop 8. Mikita serves on the board of the Human Rights Campaign, which is dedicated to ending discrimination against LGBTQ+ people.
But his contribution to the LGBTQ community does not end there. Ferguson and Mikita co-own the organization, TieTheKnot.org, a non-profit foundation that advocates for LGBTQ+ and marriage equality.
Mikita is also a cancer survivor. The producer was 14 when he was first diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma in 1997. Fortunately, in 1999, he was declared to be in remission, and he has been cancer free for decades.

After seven years of marriage, Ferguson and his husband welcomed their first baby on July 7, 2020.
A source told People that the new parents were “overjoyed and excited for this new journey as a family of three” with their son, Beckett Mercer Ferguson-Mikita.
Previously in January 2020, during a visit to The Late Late Show, Ferguson told host James Corden and fellow guest, Charlie Hunnam, “This is something I haven’t even mentioned to anyone, if we could just keep it between the three of us and you all, but I’m actually expecting a baby in July with my husband.”

And then, on May 27, 2022, the Modern Family star took to Instagram to announce he and Mikita were expecting their second baby, adding that he was “so excited” for his older son to have a sibling.
In a lengthy caption, Ferguson announced, “We are expanding our family,” and that their second baby would arrive “this fall.”
With fall just around the corner, you might soon be hearing good news from the Ferguson-Mikita family.
