The new internet hype is the new “play-to-earn” (P2E) games powered by blockchain, which combine gaming and investing. Amid the excitement surrounding NFTs and virtual worlds, these games can be lucrative, drawing millions of players and cash from investors who view the games as a method to get more people interested in cryptocurrencies.
They are defined as online games that let players earn rewards with real-world value by completing tasks, competing with players, and progressing through levels. These rewards come from in-game assets like digital tokens, virtual land, and NFTs fully tradable as crypto.
Gala Games is one of the leaders in the P2E industry. Created by Eric Schiermeyer, also known as one of Zynga’s original partners responsible for developing Mafia Wars and Farmville. The Gala (GALA) team aims to create fun blockchain-based P2E games that everyone will enjoy playing. It is intended to integrate all system players with innovative thinking with the aid of blockchain technology. It now has 1.3+ million monthly active users, and 15 game titles launched or in development. Of notice, Gala has three upcoming games: Spider Tanks, Last Expedition, and Superior.
Spider Tanks is scheduled to debut on October 31, 2022. The first Web3 PvP esports brawler will make its debut on Gala Games’ exclusive games-first blockchain, Project GYRI. It has three distinct game modes: Team Deathmatch, Capture the Chicken and Capture the Flag.
The new PvPvE extraction first-person shooter game Last Expedition is an action-packed adventure-style game. While battling terrible creatures and other teams of players, treasure seekers must risk their lives to recover priceless alien relics. While still in development, it is creating a lot of buzzes online.
Finally, last month Gala kicked off their playtest for their blockchain-based game Superior, available to anyone with a Gala Games account. Superior is a co-op, roguelite, third-person shooter where all the superheroes have turned into evil abominations. The game works as a hunt against these evil superheroes, and the goal is to gain levels to permanently upgrade your character with a branching skill tree that will give you an edge in future attempts.
Drifter’s Brain Murphy said: “It’s kind of a mix of Mr. Fantastic and Venom. You basically are pairing with a shape-shifting alien who can wrap around you and turn you into a motorcycle, or a spiky bouncy ball, or you can summon gigantic slappy hands and turn everybody into blood and guts.” Just another example of an exciting new development in this gaming ecosystem.
