Earlier this week Porsche passed an important milestone for its electric sedan, building the 100,000th example of the wonderful Taycan. Despite the last three years of production having been plagued with a literal plague, supply chain shortages, war in Ukraine, and a cargo ship full of cars sinking in the Atlantic, Porsche has still managed to pump out a heap of these svelte and nimble electrics. Production began in September of 2019, and it took until just a few days into November 2022 to reach the 100,000 mark. The milestone car is a Neptune Blue Turbo S heading to a customer in the UK.

“We are very pleased to have reached this milestone in production history so quickly – despite the recent challenges posed by the semiconductor shortage and the volatile Covid situation,” says Kevin Giek, Vice President Model Line Taycan. “With the Taycan, we have made a decidedly successful start in the electric age.”

“The Taycan is an innovator and so is the Taycan’s production,” says Albrecht Reimold, Member of the Executive Board for Production and Logistics at Porsche. “Since the start of production in 2019, we have been manufacturing the Taycan in a completely carbon-neutral manner. This now applies to the production of all sports cars at our plants in Zuffenhausen and Leipzig. This brings us another step closer to our vision of a ‘zero impact factory’. Smart, green and lean – that’s our understanding of sustainable production.”

We have truly enjoyed our time in every Taycan that we have borrowed from Porsche for review, and it’s good to hear from consumers that they are enjoying their Taycans as well. Some Porsche customers have already stacked hundreds of thousands of kilometers on the odometer, proving Porsche’s ability to build a truly reliable and exciting electric machine. And with typical Porsche build quality, to boot! If you haven’t experienced the Taycan yet, you really should, because it’s a car you won’t soon forget.
